Las Vegas Motor Speedway to hold RaceSaver Sprint race on Sept 13th

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – A third IMCA division has a race date at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the half-mile Dirt Track.

IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars visit the city of lights on Thursday, Sept. 13 during NASCAR’s Fall South Point 400 Weekend.

The Clash On The Clay date on the Las Vegas dirt resulted from a conversation between Western RaceSaver Sprint Series Director Scott Woodhouse and Tim Richter, short track racing operations manager at LVMS.

“We were talking and Tim told me they were looking for another division to run that night. I asked ‘How about the RaceSaver Sprint Cars?’” Woodhouse said. “We could get cars from the WRSS here out west and from states to the east. It’s an opportunity to see how things go.”

Car counts have averaged around 20 for the Western RaceSaver Sprint Series, which has seen 40 different drivers so far this season.

One of the biggest events for the division car-count wise, the November Duel In The Desert at LVMS has featured sanctioned Modifieds for 20 years and added Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods in 2011. Modifieds have returned there for mid-week March shows with the World of Outlaw and USAC Sprints.

“RaceSaver Sprint Cars are a natural fit for the Dirt Track,” said IMCA President Brett Root. “With the growth we have seen in events for our other divisions there, we expect to see solid numbers for RaceSaver Sprint Cars as well.”

The Sprint Car feature at Las Vegas pays $1,500 to win and $300 to start, with IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National points awarded as well.

Pit gates will open at noon and practice sessions are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12.

On race day, pit gates open at 9:45 a.m. and tech starts at 10:30 a.m. Hot laps are at 2;10 p.m., the drivers’ meeting is at 3:30 p.m. and racing starts at approximately 3:45 p.m.

Pit pass cost and grandstand admission are to be announced.
