Surnaik wins Carolina Sprint Tour event at Dublin Motor Speedway

The Carolina Sprint Tour (Formerly the Carolina RaceSaver Sprint Car Series) invaded Dublin Motor Speedway in Dublin NC on July 8th. The series under a new title and management got off to a great start with 12 sprints signing in. Action started in the heats with Steve Surniak winning Heat 1 and Dan Jones claiming victory in Heat 2.

After the draw for the invert, the main event started with the * of Dan Jones on the pole with the 77 of Mike Leraas along side. Things started a bit rough as on the initial start the field got stacked up in turn 1 with multiple cars stopping. The second try was a little worse as the same thing happened and damaged the cars of Johnny Petrozelle, David Duke, and Jake Mclain. Start number 3 went off nice and clean with Dan Jones taking the early lead. Dan Lead the first 19 laps. After taking the white flag Jones entered turn 1 and entering 2 a lapped car slowed causing Jones to lift. The 1x of Surnaik running 2nd was able to keep his momentum and sneak by Jones on the last lap exiting turn 2 and go on for the win, followed by Jomes for 2nd and Lerass for 3rd.

The Carolina Sprint Tour’s next event is with our friends at Sumter Speedway in Sumter SC on Saturday July 15th. The Carolina Sprint Tour is also sponsoring the Candy Drop for Kids that night as well. Come join us for a night of racing.
